I was asked at the last minute to make a Red Velvet birthday cake. The birthday girl’s favourite colours are black and red so I went with that.
The cake is filled with Cream Cheese Swiss Meringue Buttercream…this filling and frosting was to die for. I couldn’t get enough of it. I’ll post the steps in a later post for achieving success with this frosting.
Here are some pictures of the cake.
I really enjoyed making this cake and it’s one of my favourites to date.
I cut out small individual “rhinestone” and attached them to the flower part of the bow.
My sisters and I planned a baby shower for Sis #2 last summer (August),I made this two-tier fondant cake (and some other special treats) for her. She was really pleased with the outcome, she was going through a red velvet phase so I made the top-tier red velvet and the bottom chocolate. It turned out really nice and was gone in minutes.
Here is another cake I made for my cousin’s baby shower, I wasn’t able to attend because I had to work but my sis managed to get a shot of the cake for me. This one is a basic white cake, but still very yummy. I added baby themed cut outs to the cake to give it another dimension. Unlike my sister, we didn’t know what she was having so the cake had to be gender neutral.
